As Marketing and Communications Manager, Charlotte Keuris and her team take care of all external marketing activities and internal communication initiatives at Saratoga. This includes everything from content marketing and social media management, to event sponsorships, creating sales collateral and coordinating internal events and company communications.
Charlotte’s career in marketing actually began as a Journalism graduate from the University of Pretoria. While completing her Honours degree she started working as a Marketing Assistant for the university, setting her on her new career path in marketing. “What I really love about Marketing and Communications is figuring out how to create content or a concept that really connects with people.”
A significant milestone for Charlotte, both professionally and personally, was joining the Saratoga leadership team in 2020. “Saratoga provides its people with great opportunities to develop by investing in their training and skills development. Thanks to this support, I’ve had the opportunity to complete various training courses over the past few years which has helped prepare me for this new role.”
According to Charlotte, developing a leadership style is a life-long journey as there is always something new you can learn or skills you can improve on. Within the Marketing Team and the greater Saratoga team she tries her best to enable and empower others to take ownership of their work and their career development.
“Thanks to the support, guidance and mentorship I’ve received I hope to be that for others as well as they navigate their career. I started out where they are now, and it’s already been such a fulling part of my leadership role to support the next generation of marketing professionals.”
In her spare time, Charlotte is an online tutor for Communication Sciences students and this has been such a special and enlightening experience for her. She mainly works with first year students, so she gets to support them through their first year of tertiary studies. “There’s nothing quite like helping someone with something as important as their education.”
