As Finance Manager at Saratoga, Sheetal Bhoola, has a wide variety of responsibilities – stretching from administering the finances of the company, to operating the company payroll, working with auditors annually and managing the finance team.
Beyond her duties as Finance Manager, Sheetal is most famous among our head office staff for her infectious laugh – which can usually be heard well beyond the finance office.
Born in Zimbabwe, after the collapse of the Zimbabwean economy, Sheetal moved to the United Kingdom for 3 years, after which she relocated to South Africa when she got married. From a young age Sheetal knew family was very important to her and she wondered if this would limit her career options and growth. Fortunately, this was not the case and following the merger between Saratoga and Alacrity Technologies in 2017 Sheetal joined the Saratoga Leadership Team. “Saratoga made it possible for me to truly balance my family commitments and career development.”
Sheetal does not believe in micro-managing as Finance Manager, and has adopted a delegating leadership style. This encourages her team to take responsibility for their tasks and builds trust within the team. “This understanding is what makes us work well together.”
Further inspiring her leadership style is the guidance she has received from Mark Gebhardt, CEO of Saratoga and Julian Smith, Financial Director at Saratoga. “Their leadership has made me want to do the best that I can for Saratoga.”
After a productive day at work she enjoys paying a visit to the ocean or curling up to read a good book. Sheetal believes it is of the utmost importance to be the best mother and wife she can be – and therefore a great work-life balance is very important to her.
